Ellie is 17-and-a-half years old, and insanely intelligent. She is obviously the smartest of the five de Luca children, and she is often the most sensible of the five. Ellie's best friend is Demitria Costello, a girl from another coven that stayed in Italy. Ellie wasn't gifted with any abilities when she was born. Ellie's kindred soul was Demitria's older brother, Lukas, but he was killed by a hunter when she was sixteen.
